Paradise Peak - Tranquility and majestic splendor!

After a short drive through the Cherokee National Forest, you will arrive at Paradise Peak, located less than half-a-mile walk to Watauga Lake. Exactly .45 mile according to Map My Walk. A scenic path leading to the lake is just steps from the driveway. There are three stretches of uphill terrain on the walking path coming back from the lake. There is a bench that seats two which is close to the water’s edge and overlooks the lake. (See updated photos of the lake access area). The area is not suitable for swimming; however, a public beach is only about a 10-minute drive. Bank fishing is possible, but not ideal. A preferable area for fishing is located at the boat launch about 1.5 miles from the cabin. Wautaga Point Recreation Area is only 6 miles from the cabin. It is a beautiful, spacious lakeside spot with picnic tables, grills, hammocks, restrooms, etc. Areas for bank fishing. SEE PHOTOS. If you are an early riser and enjoy drinking your coffee on the deck, or peek out your bedroom window, you may get a glimpse of deer grazing in the meadow below the cabin. Don’t despair if you like to sleep until the later morning hours because the deer can be seen at dusk too. At times, while sitting on the deck, sipping a beverage, and enjoying the sunset over the mountain, I have had the joy and contentment of watching as these graceful creature’s graze and frolic.
